House of Illustration: open house and talk

Open House

12.00 – 18.00

Come and explore the House of Illustration as it opens its doors to UAL students, alumni and staff between 12 – 6pm. This is an opportunity to see the space and meet the staff at the UK's only public gallery dedicated solely to illustration, which runs a creative programme of exhibitions, talks and events.

Founded by Sir Quentin Blake and opened in July 2014 at the heart of the King's Cross regeneration area, House of Illustration is the place to see, learn about and enjoy illustration in all its forms; from advertisements to animation, picture books to political cartoons and scientific drawings to fashion design.

Talk: the scope of illustration: opportunities beyond the brief

14:00 – 16:30

While you’re enjoying the Open House event, book yourself onto this talk, which is ideal for illustration students or graduates. We will focus on our various areas of expertise including: teaching illustration in informal education settings; pitching your work in a retail environment; getting involved through volunteering, competitions and residencies; and curating illustration.
